**I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily。**I really really liked this book。 I love fantasy books and this one did not disappoint。To be honest, I first I thought the book wasn't going to be my cup of tea and that it was going to be boring, but I'm very happy to say that this was not the case。The book is dynamic in a way that allows you to be part of the story, it felt almost like watching a movie。 I loved it。I also love, LOVE, the romance subplot between the prot **I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily。**I really really liked this book。 I love fantasy books and this one did not disappoint。To be honest, I first I thought the book wasn't going to be my cup of tea and that it was going to be boring, but I'm very happy to say that this was not the case。The book is dynamic in a way that allows you to be part of the story, it felt almost like watching a movie。 I loved it。I also love, LOVE, the romance subplot between the protagonist and her bestfriend because I'm a sucker for queer romance, and even more for queer romance in a book where that's not the main focus。 I think 13 year old me would have been obsessed with this book, and I think I could see parts of myself in Amelia。I would definitely recommend you to read this is fantasy, friendship, some bits of romance, adventure, and self-discovery are your type of book!! 。。。more

First of all。 I loooved the Sci-fi。 It's very different (in a good way), it really creates its own world with magical creatures that we already know but the don't follow all the rules that we believe。For the sapphic part, it's interesting how things develop。 For a bunch of 13 year old girls, they're sexuality isn't explicitly said。 I like the approach of describe how they feel about each other, it was about time that not being straight wasn't a big of a deal。 I wanted more of that, tho。Thanks to First of all。 I loooved the Sci-fi。 It's very different (in a good way), it really creates its own world with magical creatures that we already know but the don't follow all the rules that we believe。For the sapphic part, it's interesting how things develop。 For a bunch of 13 year old girls, they're sexuality isn't explicitly said。 I like the approach of describe how they feel about each other, it was about time that not being straight wasn't a big of a deal。 I wanted more of that, tho。Thanks to Augusta for the advance copy。 I loved the book and I can't wait for the sequel! 。。。more

When I first read the description for this book, I was excited because the premise seemed intriguing。 But once I started reading it, I realized that the book was a little too YA for me。 But, don’t get me wrong, this was a good book, there were a couple spelling errors, but it didn’t take away from the whole story。 This story was pretty fast paced and has a good ending。 I would recommend this to someone who likes the found family trope as well as witches。 The world this author built was great, an When I first read the description for this book, I was excited because the premise seemed intriguing。 But once I started reading it, I realized that the book was a little too YA for me。 But, don’t get me wrong, this was a good book, there were a couple spelling errors, but it didn’t take away from the whole story。 This story was pretty fast paced and has a good ending。 I would recommend this to someone who likes the found family trope as well as witches。 The world this author built was great, and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next whether it’s in this world, or another one。 I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily。 。。。more

I really wanted to love this book。 The summary was really appealing and the themes suggested on Book Siren piqued my interest。 Unfortunately one of the themes was nowhere to be seen (lesbian fiction when there’s no sign of any lesbians except a couple of brief moments that are so subtle most would miss them?!) I get the impression from the style of writing and the storyline that the author hasn’t yet honed their craft。 There were tells that I have found quite common in fanfiction writing such as I really wanted to love this book。 The summary was really appealing and the themes suggested on Book Siren piqued my interest。 Unfortunately one of the themes was nowhere to be seen (lesbian fiction when there’s no sign of any lesbians except a couple of brief moments that are so subtle most would miss them?!) I get the impression from the style of writing and the storyline that the author hasn’t yet honed their craft。 There were tells that I have found quite common in fanfiction writing such as using “the blonde” instead of a characters name。 This did settle down later on in the story。The storyline itself had some interesting moments but I struggled to find it captivating at times。The characters were interesting and I feel we learnt a bit about each person, though the dialogue didn’t quite feel like it was unique enough to each person and didn’t quite fit the character of a 13 year old。 This was especially true of Amelia, though her mother also felt a little bit flat too。I feel the story did improve in the second half as the characters became more well rounded and interesting, and the storyline became a little more exciting。 I especially liked Sam and Sofia。 The world building was really good and I definitely felt a sense of place from start to finish。I received this book from BookSirens as an advanced reader copy and have left this review voluntarily。 。。。more

Thanks to the Pepperback Press and Augusta Owens for sending me an arc!3。5 stars :)Ok, so I actually really enjoyed this book and I think 13 year old me would have loved it。 While I had some trouble getting into the writing style and the development of the plot was a bit slow in my opinion, it was easy to follow and got more exciting later on。What I absolutely loved was the portrayal and description of the girls because their behaviour and their feelings were described in a way that felt realist Thanks to the Pepperback Press and Augusta Owens for sending me an arc!3。5 stars :)Ok, so I actually really enjoyed this book and I think 13 year old me would have loved it。 While I had some trouble getting into the writing style and the development of the plot was a bit slow in my opinion, it was easy to follow and got more exciting later on。What I absolutely loved was the portrayal and description of the girls because their behaviour and their feelings were described in a way that felt realistic and appropriate for 13 year olds。 I especially liked Sam and how you could see that she tried to remain strong, eventhough she was scared。 Harriet is a type of character that I absolutely adore and I enjoyed her development, mostly that you can see that it's still Harriet but like a better version of herself。 The last chapters were my personal favourites and the ending was somewhat sad, yet very sweet。I wish that we had gotten to know more about the magic there and while it's great and more realistic that you could feel Amelia's confusion because she has absolutely no experience, it would have been interesting to know a tiny bit more about the overall magic system。 I'm also kind of sad that we didn't get to read that much about Sofia towards the end。Concluding, The Hummingbird Coven was an easy read and it was really nice to just lay down with it with a cozy blanket and a cup of tea after a long day。 <3(I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily。) 。。。more

The characters are all so life-like in their personalities and relationships with each other, I really felt for them。 I also loved learning more about the magic in this world and found the premise pretty unique! This book made me like fantasy again。The magic system in this book is awesome! I've never read anything similar。 The way witches get their powers and how the covens work was so interesting。 I feel like there is also a way for the magic system to grow。The best thing about this book are the characters and their dynamics。 The bond between Amelia and Sam is so strong; they are each others forever people。 I can't wait to see their relationship develope! As much as I loved the characters, I have to say This book made me like fantasy again。The magic system in this book is awesome! The Hummingbird Coven is a Y/A fantasy book。 It has witches, a cat witch its own personality and so much more。 It's not something I normally read but it is written amazingly and kept me glued to every page。(Most of) the characters were individualy loveable and great。 I would absolutely recommend reading it if you liked the Harry Potter books。 The Hummingbird Coven is a Y/A fantasy book。 It has witches, a cat witch its own personality and so much more。 It's not something I normally read but it is written amazingly and kept me glued to every page。(Most of) the characters were individualy loveable and great。 I would absolutely recommend reading it if you liked the Harry Potter books。 。。。more

A 13 year old lesbian discovers she’s a witch, slowly falls in love with her best friend whose dad is totally an accountant (promise!), and whose coven randomly blasts into her house consisting of a short witch with anger-management issues and her sweet, nature witch girlfriend; this wasn’t exactly what Amelia thought would happen when her grandmother died。(There might also be a magic library, foul-mouthed cat, and a gargoyle named Jerry)。 This was really sweet! I was very happy to find a ya fantasy book that didn’t have the biggest focus on the romance。 It was like reading a sapphic version of Harry Potter but kinda better。 And also I felt like it was a lot like the series teen wolf but also that i liked this one better since the main characters were younger and that a lot of the focus was on exploring who you are and who you can be。 It’s actually very good written and I really enjoyed this book, so overall for me it was a five star read and I’m really I was very happy to find a ya fantasy book that didn’t have the biggest focus on the romance。 It was like reading a sapphic version of Harry Potter but kinda better。 And also I felt like it was a lot like the series teen wolf but also that i liked this one better since the main characters were younger and that a lot of the focus was on exploring who you are and who you can be。 It’s actually very good written and I really enjoyed this book, so overall for me it was a five star read and I’m really happy that I found this book。 。。。more

Not what I usually read but it was a fun book, excited to read the finished draft and criticise it。 Definitely recommend to read it if you like reading about sapphic teenage witches and cats。 And if you don’t like reading about sapphic teenage witches then I’m sorry for your bad taste in book…。。 and if you don’t like cats then you are not worthy of love and oxygen。
